Seductive yet heavy-hitting techno from ANNA

We welcome Apex to Trinity for the first time, bringing talented Brazilian-born artist ANNA

Line up:
ANNA [2 hour set]
edetto
Ian Apex
Dani Whylie
Michael Demelo

THE last 18 months have seen the talented Brazilian-born artist ANNA reach new heights with productions such as ‘Hidden Beauties’ and her powerful remix of Jon Hopkins ‘Singularity’, garnering acclaim from every corner of the industry, and achieving large streaming numbers on Spotify. New music from ANNA has been huge in festival sets for many world-leading techno DJs all summer. Then there was the richly deserved Essential Mix for the BBC that started 2019 off right, as the Brazilian distilled 20 years of DJing experience into an inspiring two-hour techno masterclass. DJ Mag rightly recognised her talents, putting her on the cover of their North American edition in February, a nod to the breakaway impact she’s had on that region.

Today’s success has been two decades in the making, stretching back to the nightclub her father owned in the countryside outside São Paulo, where she honed her craft as a DJ from the age of 14. Her journey since then has been marked by passion, hard work and unrelenting dedication to her craft. You can see this when she plays – a skilled and accomplished selector, her performances are energetic, engaging and captivating. Gigs at the legendary Warung, D-Edge and Time Warp Brazil in her home country are the stuff of legends, while globally she’s in ever-increasing demand playing everywhere from Movement Detroit, Awakenings, Tomorrowland, DC10 and Block in Tel Aviv. For an insight into her talents, you only need to check her vinyl DJ set for Cercle from last February, that’s already hit well over two million views. No surprise Mixmag heralded her as one of the best DJs of 2018 in their yearly wrap-up.

On the production front, she’s dropped critically acclaimed music on virtually every significant label in techno, including Hotflush, Drumcode, Novamute, Clash Lion, Sapiens, Domino with her Jon Hopkins remix, plus a new original for Tale of Us on Afterlife. Her relationship with Kompakt continues to reap fruits. Following on from the success of ‘Hidden Beauties’ that was acclaimed by Pitchfork and judged one of 2018’s Top Tracks by Mixmag, she released the stirring ‘Remembrance’ EP, highlighted by ‘When I Am Only A Dream’. In August this year, she released a very special collaboration with Kittin titled ‘Forever Ravers’ – which is already being heralded as ‘techno track of the year’ by a number of media platforms and certainly an anthem for our times.

How it works:

If you have seeds to swap, hand them in on the ‘Seeds in’ table to be put out on the seed tables.

Select the seeds you need, if have no seeds to bring or want to take loads please donate cash – this is by conscience and what you fell you can afford. If you are waged we suggest 20p for little packs up to £1 for bigger pack of the rarer heritage seeds.

Sit at the cafe tables, enjoy a drink, cake or meal and split up any packs that have more than you need – we expect a lot of people and want everyone to get what they need for this year.

They also have speakers, stalls, kids area, info, exhibits and workshops.

Learn about seed saving, green issues, growing & local projects

Get expert advice from knowledgeable & friendly gardeners

Learn about seed and land issues, local projects and ideas for making the most of your allotment or garden or balcony

The Church of Love is celebrating its FOURTH BIRTHDAY. What better way to celebrate it than with two wicked parties in two of the best cities on the planet - London and Bristol!

For the Bristol date the congregation will be returning to the Trinity for another biblical bash featuring some of Church Of Love's all time favourite acts...

Oh My God! It's The Church (DJ Set)
If you haven’t heard of Oh My God! It’s The Church then you’re in for a treat. A church service like no other - they are one of the most fun live acts on the UK festival circuit. Catch them playing a rare DJ set at the Church of Love, it’s quite literally a match made in heaven!

Hippo Sound System
DJ Hiphoppapotamus’ live band “Hippo Sound System” is another of the best live acts in the scene right now. Featuring a menagerie of talented musicians that bring the Hippos tropical flavoured riddims to life, Hippo Sound System always bring the sunshine to the dance floor.

Father Funk
The Church of Love’s own Father Funk has his own special recipe for rocking the party. Big bass lines, more exclusive remixes than you can shake a stick at, and a wealth of different flavours of fun and funky bass music, from Bass House to Drum & Bass.

X-Ray Ted
Red Bull 3Style finalist, Bristol boy and Church of Love resident X-Ray Ted is another one of our favourite party starters! He just got through to the finals of Red Bull 3Style AND recently supported Fatboy Slim (on a boat no less). His DJ sets include some slick turntablism, next level combos and plenty of original productions.

Mr Stabalina
If there was ever a time to use the phrase “one to watch” - it’s when referring to Mr Stabalina. Although he is relatively new to the scene Mr Stabalina is already absolutely smashing it. Expect some ridiculous mashups, a stupid amount of samples, and a extremely large helping of funk.

Bear Twists b2b MBB
Two of Bristols finest Bear Twists and Mista Bare Breeze team up for a b2b for the history books! These debaucherous deities are always the life of the party - here to repent your sins and dance all over your bass bins!

Miss Tee has performed at Harbour Festival and garden party, this is her story

“I just learned to channel my anger, emotions, my energy in a good way, so I could create something I could be proud of... I'm just going to keep following that path of love, loving what I do and loving how I do it and just see where it gets me, coz that’s all I can do.” Miss Tee

Tenisha is a young single parent whose situation has turned around over the last two years with support from Trinity.

From being someone with very little confidence who described herself as ‘a negative person’ Tenisha has used her involvement with Making Tracks to develop a positive approach to life, both personally and professionally.

Her lyric writing, singing, microphone use and music production skills have improved significantly. She has become increasingly independent and her confidence has blossomed, evidenced in her three live performances in front of large crowds this year.

“They (Trinity) showed me I could do more with my music, that I am my music, and to embrace my music. They made me understand that context, and the confidence helped me build it too... It’s a big step for me, and it’s scary too, but they've helped me every step of the way and I'm so grateful... It’s made me more independent and that is making me overcome a lot of other fears. The whole coming out of my shell, being who I really want to be, and doing what I love...”

Tenisha has developed a strong musical relationship with Trinity staff who have challenged and supported her in a way that has encouraged her growth, personally and musically, her self-discipline and self-belief.

Having now joined PRS as an artist in her own right Tenisha’s next steps include producing an EP of original music and releasing it across multiple platforms. She’s also keen to mentor other young people, pushing them forward in a way she feels she was never pushed until now.

“Overall we're incredibly pleased with her. I'm really happy for her because it's going to keep going, it’s not the top of the hill yet, so she will stay involved.” Al Howard,Trinity staff member

Whyte Horses - Cancelled

Enigmatic Mancunian psychedelic pop

Whyte Horses are a glorious mystery. The band – if, indeed, they are a band – released their debut album ‘Pop Or Not’ in 2016, achieving rapturous critical acclaim, including praise from Noel Gallagher, the ‘Album of the Year’ award from Piccadilly Records and endless support from BBC 6 Music.

Live, Whyte Horses craft a fusion of music and visuals that recalls everything from Andy Warhol to Brazil’s tropicalia movement. Matching a sweet sense of innocence to lingering darkness, Whyte Horses are a uniquely intriguing experience, capable of cutting through the fog of the everyday. Prepare to become obsessed.

Their sound takes you on a sonic journey through soul, 60’s pop and Nouvelle Vague-esque ballads through to fuzzed-up psychedelic rock. The sound is timeless, sounding simultaneously like everything and nothing you’ve ever heard.

Please note, this is a seated show
