Area 11 are a British four-piece band, who to date have released two studio albums, three EPs & 4 stand alone singles in 2019. Both of their albums ‘All The Lights In The Sky’ and ‘Modern Synthesis’ have enjoyed great chart successes. The group’s genre remains hard to define as their music ranges from sweeping electronic soundscapes to dance-rock anthems to understated acoustic songs. Suitably, their songs range in concept from the cerebral and abstract to the nostalgic and personal. After multiple sell-out Bristol shows, the band return to the city in for the final date of their UK tour.

Hello to all ticket-holders and I hope you are managing to stay safe and as happy as possible during this unpredictable time.

Whilst I am literally desperate to return to gigging the moment I can, I’m sorry to announce that that is not going to be possible this year. Looking at all social distancing requirements and balancing the safety of everyone involved, we have had to take the difficult decision to move Autumn 2020 shows, many of which had been rescheduled already from this spring, now on into Spring 2021. Nobody is more gutted than me but I believe it would be irresponsible to resume touring until I can be sure that the safety of audiences and venue staff is assured.

I hope that you all understand my position and if you have tickets and can afford to do so, please hold on to them. As always, thank you for your support and I hope to see you again down the road when we are able to sing together again safely.

GP x

In his musical journey spanning from being a sideman to Charles Mingus, Max Roach, Miles Davis and Art Blakey, to a solo career marking him as the luminary of the fusion movement of the 70s, Gary Bartz recorded impactful albums such as Another Earth, which took inspirations from John Coltrane's iconic A Love Supreme.

Inspired by coming of age in the political backdrop of the last 20 years the album “is a mirror for what’s going on, reflecting back the way people are feeling” tender and fierce, abstract and full of classic rock energy.
How does the music industry help the sector?

With the grass-roots music sector in crisis, now's the time to think about how to safeguard those at the sharp end

In our time of crisis, how do we support the survival of artists and venues at the sharp end who are faced with a downturn in income, a cash flow crisis, a reduction in administrative capacity, and audiences that have vanished?

Trinity is very much still here and we're working hard as a team to find ways to support artists to make work and get paid, through our projects and wider venue activity. We don't have all the answers, so if you're an artist in Bristol and have an idea that you would like to share with us, please get in touch. We might not be able to work miracles, but we're willing to try our best.

This is our call to our bigger brothers to see if there's anything you can do to help a sector under threat.

Would PRS and PPL consider suspending or delaying the reporting of licenses, for example? Perhaps there could be a strategy developed that looks at redistributing music royalties from those most established and successful artists in consultation with artists? Some sort of scheme that seeks to safeguard the future of those whose livelihoods have been suddenly severed, that could be supported and endorsed by those who may not in the short term need to draw on their royalty revenues so as to help ease the pressure felt by venues across the world? Standing up for music rights for the long-haul.

Whatever the mechanism, our sector urgently needs its more resourced partners to consider their strategy giving empathy, leniency and grace and providing practical support to grass-roots venues and creatives who are most in need and are at the coal face of this industry crisis. Let's come together to build some solutions.

Thank you, big love and stay safe.
