Making and Using Biochar and Woodgas Workshop

Shift Bristol workshop with Ed Revill

This workshop is for anyone wanting to understand how to make and use biochar producing stoves and heating systems and how to use biochar to improve soil health and resilience for increased crop production. This simple technology can enable you to produce your own domestic energy and grow your own crops whilst reversing the causes of climate change and enriching the Earth.

Morning session, 10am til 1pm:

-Food and Energy Sovereignty: The old system; factory farming and soil erosion; solutions; reclaiming food sovereignty and stabilising carbon in soil.

-Biochar Stoves: Incl top light up draught (tlud) stove principles, benefits and demo.

-Biochar Producing Heating, Cooking and Hot Water Systems: Biochar Rocket Stoves; bringing biochar stoves indoors; understanding the principles, incl demonstrations; how to build a system (if you know a welder)

Lunch, including the chance to ask further questions and play with gasifiers.

Afternoon session 2pm til 4.30pm:

-Biochar and Wood Vinegar Production: demo and risks

-Biochar to Optimise Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungae, Glomalin and Soil Aggregates: Making soils resistant to climate change whilst reversing the causes of climate change; mimicking nature; less bacterial more AMF activity; making Biochar Mineral Complexes demo.

-New Systems: Using biochar heating systems in conjunction with tree bogs and agroforestry.
