The Twinkle Brothers with full live band

The Twinkle Brothers formed by Norman (vocal, drums) and Ralston Grant (vocals, rhythm guitar in 1962, are one of the most famous original Jamaican reggae bands. The band expanded with the addition of Eric Barnard (piano), Kyle Hyatt (vocals, percussion) and Albert Green (congos, percussion)

After winning local talent competitions, they became famous for singing in a slick trio style, similar to the Mighty Diamonds.

With an extensive back catalogue of over 60 albums, they have worked with many of the greatest reggae producers including Bunny Lee, Lee Scratch Perry, Sid Bucknor, Phil Pratt and Duke Reid.

In 1975, the Twinkles released their best and most widely known record, Rasta Pon Top, a rasta-infused, roots-heavy demi-masterpiece that included soul and gospel vocal stylings within the deep grooves of reggae bass lines.

To truly experience this legendary band, you need to see them live, as Norman is famous for his energetic performances that deliver an inspiring night of vocal reggae sounds.

Before releasing their first album, Turbowolf spent several years developing their musical style in a series of UK tours and shows with the likes of The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster, The Computers, Pulled Apart by Horses and Dinosaur Pile-Up. In 2010, they also toured in Europe with Korn and Dimmu Borgir. The band has also been very active on the festival circuit, with performances at Download, Sonisphere, Lovebox, Great Escape, SXSW, Boardmasters and Hevy among others.

Trinity joins 14 other venues this February (4-18 Feb) for Fightback Bristol – a new campaign headed by the Music Venue Trust that encourages audiences to visit their local grassroots music venue and promote the Bristol’s emerging and existing musical talent.

Trinity is known for it’s boundry pushing music events, so it is really exciting to be able to bring you a programme of live music & club nights inspired by the musical heritage of the building. This year you'll see established and new artists both local and national who are all about pushing new ideas in music.

We’ve partnered with established promoters to bring you underground music that we know you are going to love. First up we had Bristol collective Young Echo who took over Fyfe Hall for their album launch back in February. Followed by Dubstep artist and promoter Pinch’s club night Subloaded celebrating the 100th release on his Tectonic label.

In May Trinity & Teaching in Dub will bring you Grime & Dubstep collective Bandulu Records with a massive line up ft Commodo, Rizla Teef, Kahn & Neek, Boofy, Hi5ghost. Plus the next generation of producers coming through, Drone, Lucy, Sir Hiss, Bengal Sound, with the big bad SGT Pokes on mic duties.  With more exciting artists coming in the Autumn (keep your eyes peeled for updates).

If you like high energy new reggae music with a heavy dub twist, definitely grab tickets to see Resonators on 19th May. This is going be a get up and dance vibe all night.

It is really important to Trinity that we showcase Bristol talent as much as we can in our in house music programme so we are pleased Resonators will be supported by Bristol artists, Roots Factory featuring YT (worked with the likes of Mungos Hifi and Solo Banton) plus Papa Steve and his mighty Downbeat Melody Soundsystem and Numesa.

Addictive TV are electronic artists known for their innovative use of sampling

They are bringing their global music project 'Orchestra of Samples' to Bristol.

Described as “ingenious and compelling” by The Times, the acclaimed live performance is a unique musical journey without borders. Taking in Senegal, Kazakhstan, Indonesia, China, Colombia, Brazil, India and many more to connect cultures and bring musicians and instruments together, from traditional and rare, to the newly invented.

With their project, Addictive TV have filmed recording sessions around the world for over a decade with hundreds of musicians improvising, sampling and splicing instruments together to create new music of extraordinary fusions. Joining them on stage will be Bristol-based multi-instrumentalist Alphonse Daudet Touna from Cameroon.

There'll be a pre-show talk with the artists before the performance, giving an insight into the project and how it was created.

Immerse yourself in mesmerising rhythmic dialogues and discover instruments you never knew existed!

Trinity have partnered with Addictive TV, Bristol Refugee Festival, Counterpoints Arts and LARA to make this event happen.

A key pillar of the Reggae Revival movement, Kabaka Pyramid carved his way into the Jamaican reggae scene with Rebel Music in 2011. His hip hop roots were evident in the lyrical style and hard-hitting beats, laying the foundation for an ever-ascending career highlighted by the Grammy winning album “The Kalling” produced by role model Damian “Jr Gong” Marley.

In Lockdown in early 2020 we teamed up with some of the most exciting names in Bristol's music scene, from St Paul's Carnival to Mini Rig to Nozstock Festival, to bring online audiences live streams.

In October 2020, our socially-distanced Trinity Presents: Garden Sessions where the first opportunity to welcome audiences back to Trinity to enjoy live music, in person.

“I’ve always known how much I value shared human connection on a dance floor but since March I’ve been trying to get this in other ways, dancing on zoom with friends, dancing to my mini rig with 5 friends in a wood. But tonight I experienced again the incredible wonder of the talented DJs of @bootybass playing tunes and responding to a crowd, feeling my insides vibrate with bass, glancing up and smiling at a stranger as you connect, arms in the air in synchronicity and I cried a little tear of joy. We put together an exciting series of events in a special, Covid-secure outdoor area in Trinity's historic grounds.

We teamed up with some of our favourite artists & Soundsystems for 9 full days sell-out live music & DJ's : Waldo's Gift, Hodge & Danielle, Dubkasm, Ashanti Selah, Young Echo, Sinai Soundsystem, Booty Bass, Bandulu, Sofa Sound, Afrobeat Fridays.

People commented that the space felt magical and like something special that you discover in a hidden corner of a festival.

Ras Digby:

Ras Digby, also known as Sir Jesus Sound, is a Jamaican selector and MC who has been active in London since the mid-70s. He is a true legend in his field, with a microphone in hand, he skillfully
brings together the forgotten gems of ska, rocksteady, early reggae, and even rub a dub, captivating listeners with infectious delight.

Trinity Presents: Bristol Dances Stage

Head to Millennium and get ready to experience dance in its many forms this year at the first-ever Trinity Presents: Bristol Dances Stage (Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st July 2019).

The programme offers an exiting selection of performances and workshops from some of the best dance companies and communities thriving in Bristol - from Hip Hop, street dance, Bollywood, swing, salsa, Brazilian styles, funk, cabaret and drag.

Not to be missed moments include a swing dance party hosted by both Bristol Swing Dance and Bristol Swing Riot, a Ceilidh Dance with Mr Medler, and a cabaret and drag extravaganza curated by Eat Sleep Drag Repeat.

Gerry’s Attic, an older peoples dance company who are known for their Dance festival Full Bloom, and the award winning young people’s street dance Hype Dance Company feature on this year's programme. Both are community groups that use Trinity to run regular activities - supported through our Community Initiative a scheme that offers over 4000 hours of free or subsidised hall space each year.

There is also an opportunity for young people who take part in our collaborative music making project Making Tracks to showcase their talents on the Making Tracks Showcase. The project is a partnership between Basement Studios, Aspiration Creation Elevation (ACE@Docklands) and Trinity who offer young people in Bristol who are struggling with challenging personal circumstances life changing music making experiences.

There will also be plenty of chances for younger visitors to move their feet thanks to family-friendly sessions each morning.

RepresentAsian is the podcast and event series championing South Asian DJs across the UK. Founded by siblings Safiya Haneen and Yusuf Suave, RepresentAsian is here to challenge stereotypes and celebrate South Asian culture and contributions to the music industry. Expect Bollywood and Bhangra mixed in with your favourite Baile Funk, Garage and UK Funky.

Drum roll please… We are ready to welcome you back music lovers! In a specially erected tent in the historic grounds of Trinity, we will be running weekend sessions throughout the Autumn and we cannot wait.

Trinity Presents Garden Sessions will run throughout October, launching its first weekend with Bristol's experimental trio Waldo’s Gift (Oct 16), Livity Sound's Hodge & Danielle (Oct 17), and Dubkasm meets Ashanti Selah (Oct 18).

With Saturday & Sunday being powered by Sinai Soundystem.

With a list of collaborators that includes Giggs, Idris Elba, Sarkodie, Fredo and Ghetts, Donae'O is the artist holding down London's underground. The producer, songwriter, rapper, and vocalist has been an early adopter of almost all crucial urban movements coming out of the capital; From garage, to grime, to the UK funky-inspired house, that continues to influence today's charts. With his new album which dropped in 2022, the time has come for this polymath to slide back into the spotlight.

Peachin' are a female events and DJ collective known for keeping the dance-floor on their toes. Bouncing between 90's/00's hip hop and R&B, dancehall, afrobeats’, Amapiano, UK garage, global club and more. They create a space for people to enjoy a dance floor that is fun, respectful and open to let loose!
