Working with some of the best artists and promoters in the city, our Garden Sessions bring you a series of socially distanced events in a way you've never experienced at Trinity before, in a new outdoor venue on our historic grounds.

Stanlaey

STANLÆY is the brain child and alter-ego of musician, producer, artist, and composer Bethany Clare Mistlebrook Stenning, where Bethany composes music both as a solo artist, and collaborating with other musicians / a live band to bring the music to a live environment. Fuelled by collaboration, landscapes (internal and external), cross-pollination and the synergy between the organic and the synthetic, Bethany is an unstoppable force of nature of multi-disciplinary form.

In just 3 short years, STANLÆY has evolved from a confused solitary musician perusing the streets of Paris to Bethany's role as a highly respected producer, composer and performer in Bristol. Her music has most recently appeared on BBC Radio 6, BBC Bristol, BBC Introducing in the West, RTE Radio, British Airwaves Next Big Thing, and been hailed by local press; described as "Joanna Newsom, Bjork and Janelle Monae wrapped into one woodland sprite." - Monolith Cocktail.

Bethany Stenning - electric guitar, vocals and weird noises

Ben Holyoake - bass and bass synth

Naomi Hill - violin

Alun Elliot-Williams - electric guitar and brain pedals

Joe Milkinson - drum kit and percussion

Social Muscle Club (SMC) is a fitness studio for our social muscles!

Join an evening of entertainment and games at this one-off Summer Camp special Social Muscle Club!

On Thursday 27th August the club will happen online and in partnership with Shambala Festival. This SMC will transport you from your own home to your favourite summer camp. Featuring live performances from Camp Fit, Megan Clark-Bagnall and Wilfredo, compered by Annabelle Holland, and with an after-party hosted by DJ Dr Fly and special guest appearance by Annette Curtains, the club promises good old-fashioned British holiday fun, laughter and new friends, as everyone comes together to flex their social muscles.

At one of these clubs you’re invited to grab a drink, a socially-distanced friendly buddy, join a Zoom call, and take part in a simple sharing game where everyone offers something they are willing to give, and makes a request for something they’d like to receive. These things can be concrete and practical but also abstract, or relationship-focused. Fresh bread, tax return support, a tattoo, a holiday apartment in Costa Rica, a sofa, cash, a shoulder to cry on. The giving and receiving games in small groups are punctuated by performance, music, and surprises. The atmosphere is celebratory!

Grab a buddy or join in alone. All are welcome.

This event will happen on Zoom. Tickets are free but you must register in advance by clicking on the book tickets link on the left-hand side.

You will need to register each device you want to join the Zoom call but more than one person can join the event via the same device (bubble buddies welcome!)

They have been likened to mainstays of the UK’s musical landscape and embrace the complimentary comparisons. Frankie has an uncanny ability to weave thoughtful lyrical imagery with the everyman brilliance of The Streets while boasting disarmingly smooth vocals reminiscent of Loyle Carner. Harvey Gunn’s technical prowess and boundary-breaking innovation on the buttons have drawn deserved parallels to Mura Masa and MJ Cole.

After building a significant streaming audience over the years, Frankie Stew & Harvey Gunn embarked on their first headline tour in 2017. Their shows sold out on both ends of the country – namely London, Brighton, Bristol and Manchester.

At the end of February Frankie Stew & Harvey Gunn released their latest album 'Breathing Exercises'. Recent singles have been supported by Annie Mac 'New Names', DJ Target (1Xtra), Huw Stephens (Radio 1) & Steve Lamacq (6Music). 'Breathing Exercises' has amassed over 5.5m streams (currently at over 250k streams per week) and has already added over 10k followers & 250k monthly listeners to their profile with editorial support via Lofi Hip-Hop, dazed, Grime Shutdown & Conscious.

Looking at all social distancing requirements and balancing the safety of everyone involved, we have had to take the difficult decision to move Autumn 2020 shows, many of which had been rescheduled already from this spring, now on into Spring 2021.
Following government advice and for the safety of you and your families, all of our events are on hold until further notice. We hope that our summer festivals & events will still be able to go ahead on the dates as planned, however, if they are rescheduled, we will let you know as soon as we know ourselves. We have no way of knowing what will happen next as the global events continue to unfold.

Please hold on to your tickets as new dates and transfers will be offered if and where necessary, like yourselves, we have no way of knowing what restrictions will be imposed on us by the government, so please allow us time to come back to you. Once we are given the green light for holding events then we will work with the venues to find you new dates if applicable. You will be the first to know of any further news.

First and foremost, the human cost of the virus is undeniably devastating, but secondary to this, the social and economic challenges ahead are enormous. The leisure and entertainment industry, in particular, has ground to a complete halt and it’s highly possible that some clubs, event organisers and festivals will not survive due to being unable to trade. Rest assured, Reggae Tots will still be here for many years to come, but we will need your support and loyalty to get through.

"Due to the uncertainty surrounding the C-19 Pandemic we have decided to postpone this event until September.

Although this is disappointing, the health and well-being of our community is paramount and this is simply the right thing to do.

This is a very special event for us, we’ve been supporters of Aba Shanti-I from back in the 90’s and when we all come together to celebrate 30 years of this great soundsystem we want that to be a time of upliftment and happiness that’s not tainted by fear and anxiety.

Therefore we’ve agreed with both Aba and the Trinity Centre to push this event forwards another eight months to ensure we can all come together in unity and celebrate this occasion in the way we’ve always planned.

The event is nearly sold out and all tickets are valid for the new date of Saturday the 19th September 2020 (or of course if you require a refund you can contact the ticket outlet you purchased them from).

We look forward to celebrating 30 years of Aba Shanti-I with you all and we thank you for your support and understanding. In the meantime please be sensible and take care of yourselves during the next few months.
