]]>The UK Beatbox Championships returns to Bristol to celebrate the 20 year anniversary of the national event, for the Festival of Vocal Arts on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st September 2025.
The 2-day event includes all the head-to-head battles in 5 categories: Solo, Team, Loop, under 18 and introducing a brand-new international competition. This year also features a Music Careers Convention and Music Equipment & Tech Playground with workshops, talks, careers advice, panels and masterclasses from music industry experts and some of the finest voices in the beatbox world as well as live performances from National and International Beatbox icons. Full line up to be announced...

Chris from The Stingrays remembers feeling decidedly underwhelmed by their performance:
“They'd been on the front cover of NME that week. They'd been spotted as the next big thing and they assumed there was gonna be a big crowd. And we were there as support and they were trying to get the show going and we didn't want to go on in front of ten people – I tried to delay matters...in fact although it got a bit better there wasn't that many people there that night...personally I wasn't that impressed. My feeling was, not many people in the crowd were either. You didn't think you were looking at a group that was gonna be the biggest group in the world within about a year.”

Tycho, an American ambient music project led by Scott Hansen as primary composer, songwriter and producer, hailing from San Francisco, California.
Brining their sonic sound of electronic intelligent dance music with the new instalment to their album catalogue, ‘Epoch’, which joins previous successes with Dive (2011) and Awake (2014).
The title track, has a Deep House edge, coupled with their usual rhythm signatures, and expansive wave-forms that linger in the air intermixed with rushes of urban soundscapes.

The Twinkle Brothers with full live band
The Twinkle Brothers formed by Norman (vocal, drums) and Ralston Grant (vocals, rhythm guitar in 1962, are one of the most famous original Jamaican reggae bands. The band expanded with the addition of Eric Barnard (piano), Kyle Hyatt (vocals, percussion) and Albert Green (congos, percussion)
After winning local talent competitions, they became famous for singing in a slick trio style, similar to the Mighty Diamonds.
With an extensive back catalogue of over 60 albums, they have worked with many of the greatest reggae producers including Bunny Lee, Lee Scratch Perry, Sid Bucknor, Phil Pratt and Duke Reid.
In 1975, the Twinkles released their best and most widely known record, Rasta Pon Top, a rasta-infused, roots-heavy demi-masterpiece that included soul and gospel vocal stylings within the deep grooves of reggae bass lines.
To truly experience this legendary band, you need to see them live, as Norman is famous for his energetic performances that deliver an inspiring night of vocal reggae sounds.

]]>Before releasing their first album, Turbowolf spent several years developing their musical style in a series of UK tours and shows with the likes of The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster, The Computers, Pulled Apart by Horses and Dinosaur Pile-Up. In 2010, they also toured in Europe with Korn and Dimmu Borgir. The band has also been very active on the festival circuit, with performances at Download, Sonisphere, Lovebox, Great Escape, SXSW, Boardmasters and Hevy among others.
