You will hear lots of people talking about not being able to find a job because of the economic climate:

  • Persevere – you may apply for lots of jobs but not get them, but if you don't apply, you definitely won't get them ( 0 + 0 = 0 ).

  • Consider your options – it may be time to volunteer to increase your skills base. Or you may want to think about starting your own business or get back into education.

  • Compromise - Try to find a compromise between what you want to do compared with the benefit of having a job – lots of people find it is easier to find another job once they already have a job.

  • Keep an open mind - It can be useful to take a job that may not be your ideal job or in your chosen field as it may teach you new skills (like how to work with different people) and help to identify what it actually is you do want to do. It may even change your perspective about your whole career path.
