Out of the haze and into Bristol comes Beach House, the band of the moment.

Two sweet albums down and repairing to their hometown of Baltimore, Maryland last winter, the duo of Alex Scally and Victoria Legrand regrouped and made “Teen Dream”, their first 24-carat classic, out on Bella Union earlier this year. With it their dreamy, handmade chamber pop has reached towering new heights of emotion, propelled by a new-found rhythmic energy that will imprint these songs on your soul when they reverberate round the Trinity church.

Like a more hushed and special Grizzly Bear, Beach House have taken the torch of slo-mo, melancholic female vocal songcraft laid that’s passed through Velvet Underground, Low and Mazzy Star, and given it a power surge for the 21^st Century. Theirs is a universal touch that has reached across crowds, continents and critics from Mojo – “Classic 60’s pop arrangements filtered through the fuzzy prism of a dream“ – through to the NME – “a beguiling beauty…a real vacation for the mind”.

Also from Baltimore, Lower Dens are the exciting new project of Jana Hunter, a much underrated songwriter whose time has come. Waves of fuzz and drone permeate Hunter’s skewed way with word and melody, given a platform to really soar courtesy of her handpicked band.
