Billy Nomates: Archival Sounds
Archival Sounds is a new series that invites audiences to slow down, listen deeply, and uncover the political and cultural stories behind music. Each gathering pairs guest artists with a theme, using vinyl records as a way into memory, meaning, and conversation. These events are about creating space for both dialogue and deep listening.
Theme TBA
Billy Nomates
Bristol-based songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Billy Nomates (aka Tor Maries) has built a reputation for raw honesty and fearless experimentation. Following the acclaim of her 2023 album CACTI and a standout Glastonbury performance, Maries has transformed Billy Nomates from a solo project into a full band. Her third album Metalhorse, recorded in Seville with producer James Trevascus, expands her stark punk roots into new territory, blending blues, folk, and synth-driven soundscapes. Balancing resilience, grief, and defiance, Billy Nomates continues to be one of the UK’s most uncompromising and vital voices.
The experience is powered by the warmth and clarity of the Firmly Rooted Soundsystem, creating space to hear each track in full and reflect on what the music stirs up, personally and collectively.
Vinyl, stories, and conversation: a new series where music meets meaning.
