A Dancing Night

Children's Book Launch

This book follows the journey of a little Zimbabwean girl named Runako, who has a musical grandmother that plays the mbira. Every time her grandmother plays the mbira, something magical happens, shaping Runako’s ideas on Zimbabwean music, imagination, and song.

This is the very first book launch by Zimbabwean author, Nomsa Mlambo. The event is a fun filled event for parents and children with the following activities:

  • A reading from the author of the book, “A Dancing Night”
  • Colouring activity with images from the book
  • Learn a new song and play the Zimbabwean instrument, the mbira
  • Play fun games including a treasure hunt for musical instruments, duck duck goose and unique Zimbabwean games
  • Physical copies of the book available for purchase
  • Free sticker for the first 20 purchases (available only at the launch)

About the Author
Nomsa Hazel Mlambo is the co-founder of Bhala Writers, a community that seeks to champion, inspire, elevate and connect African writers. She is passionate about seeing writing become a viable career option for her fellow Africans. Creative at heart, Nomsa enjoys singing, playing the guitar, dancing, and songwriting. When she isn’t trying to find rhymes for her next children’s book, she can be found with her nose in a book, MCing an event or encouraging someone to live out their purpose.
