Viki shared her work: Hyper Fem in early January 2019 at Trinity. Hyper Fem asks whether the performance of femininity through Drag can be as powerful, political or subversive when performed on a female identifying body. It is strongly inspired by some of her recent previous projects which involved epic wigs and performing as a ‘make up girl in a tiny dress’.

The IGNiTE team attended alongside Trinity staff, industry professionals and members of Many Minds the Bristol based arts and mental health charity that Viki is a co-director of. A sharing is the opportunity for an artist to receive feedback on their work in progress and to develop the piece further. For audiences it is an opportunity to 'contextualize the artist’s vision'.

“I work alongside resident artists helping with admin and logistics. Often we talk about road blocks they are facing and their '’break though moments'’. Because of this when I'm given the opportunity to see sharing's I jump at the chance. Looking back on her residency Viki says: "Developing ‘Hyper Fem’ at Trinity has been an incredible opportunity for me. I find the building, its history and its placement in the city truly inspiring. It's political past and its dedication to the multiple communities who use the space have challenged me to think and dream bigger than ever before. I felt safe, supported and welcome in the building which after two weeks of working there started to feel like a second home. We are now excited to begin the next phase of the project: finding partners and commissioners to work with on the show!”

Performance artist Tom Marshman invites you all to a marvellous party, bringing to life the fascinating personal archive of Oliver Messel, one of the twentieth century’s leading theatrical stars.

Part-installation, part-performance, the events are free and open for drop-ins throughout the day - just turn up at Trinity's reception.

As master of ceremonies, Tom will be drawing out untold stories from Oliver’s captivating world, animating the installation with timed performances inspired by a host of characters from Oliver’s personal and professional life; from Bright Young Things, to Hollywood starlets and theatrical dames.

Visitors are encouraged to explore the installation, sharing in Tom’s curiosity as he delved through the Archive, discovering handwritten letters, musings and conversations, brought to life through interweaving audio and reproductions of original material.

Tom’s shows are known for their ‘hand crafted, intimate and naughty’ approach, often both ‘humorous, high-brow, low-brow, sensory, stomach churning, conversational, and sentimental’ all at once. Join us as he turns his hand to the hidden histories of Oliver’s life, celebrated through the stories of this marvellous party.

Ecstatic Dance is free-form dance - a movement meditation which brings awareness of mind, body, heart and soul through dance, movement and expression. Ecstatic Dance is a safe, held and sacred space for you to dance, move, release, express, connect with yourself and others, relax, let go and unwind. It can be fun, deep, uplifting, ecstatic, liberating and so much more. It takes place over a 2 hour live DJ set. The DJ takes you on a dance journey through different energies, genres and tempos.

DJ OSARA is an international Ecstatic Dance DJ and the founder of Ecstatic Dance Bristol. He's been a conscious dance DJ since 2017 and has roots in underground dance music, African drumming and sacred sound. He deeply loves DJ'ing his favourite, latest sounds and bringing people together in such a deep, fun and uplifting way. With such an eclectic taste in music every DJ set he plays is totally unique.

We finish with a sublime sound bath to ground and land after the Ecstatic Dance. We're super excited to have Chris Baron and company of Pang Orchestra sharing their sacred and healing sounds of Hang, Gubal, Urga and other instruments developed by the original makers of @Hang. Pang Orchestra is a social sound sculpture - a new development of the original Hang and the musical heritage of PANArt Hang.

Ecstatic Dance has been created as a safe, contained and sacred space for dance, movement and expression. We kindly ask all participants to follow these guidelines:

- the dance floor is a non-verbal space
- the dance floor is a phone free space
- this is a drug and alcohol free event
- the dance floor is a place of respect and safety. Maintain care/awareness for the space and those around you. Ecstatic Dance is contact-friendly but keep in mind that we all have different levels of comfort when it comes to being approached and touched.
- Ecstatic Dance is a barefoot practice. If you need to wear shoes due to health reasons, dance-specific shoes are allowed, but only shoes that have not been worn outside

A big thanks to everyone for their support during the Caring at Christmas day shelter at Trinity.

Across the project a total of 2307 hot meals and 2400 sandwiches where served to around 100 guests a day in the Day Centre at Trinity. We have been really delighted to team up and with Caring at Christmas for this much needed ambitious project,  during the crucial Christmas period when provisions become scarce in Bristol for those experiencing homelessness.

WHAT IS ART BATTLE?
Art Battle® is live competitive painting. Painters create the best work they can in 20 minutes. As they work, patrons move around the easels, closely watching the creative process. The medium is acrylic paint and the tools allowed are brushes, palette knives or any non-mechanical implements. Trinity joins 14 other venues this February (4-18 Feb) for Fightback Bristol – a new campaign headed by the Music Venue Trust that encourages audiences to visit their local grassroots music venue and promote the Bristol’s emerging and existing musical talent.

Fightback Bristol provides an opportunity to showcase the fantastic range of artists and venues that Bristol enjoys, celebrating the history of our music scene and supporting its future." We will be selling Fightback Lager , Music Venues Trust’s new project to raise money to help grassroots venues throughout the country, providing venues with an affordable beer that financially helps the whole sector. Find out more about Fightback Bristol and other events across the city here.

This public exhibition is being held in the Graffiti Room at the Trinity Centre, Trinity Road, BS2 0NW, on Wednesday 30th January between 15:00-19:00.

The public exhibition will give local residents and stakeholders an opportunity to view the proposals in more detail, including technical plans and imagery of the initial designs, and allow them to ask the project team any questions that they might have at this stage. The exhibition event will also enable local residents to provide their feedback on the plans so far, which will be reviewed by the project team and, where possible, incorporated in to the scheme prior to a planning application being submitted to Bristol City Council in the coming months.
