We are pleased to announce that Harbour Festival’s Dance Stage is back this year, with a large tent on Queen Square! The program is representative and inclusive, showcasing a wide range of talents and celebrating the community of Bristol through the medium of dance.

As always, the stage will continue to work alongside local dance companies, community groups, independent artists and cultural organizations as a platform for showcasing the diverse range of talent Bristol has to offer. The stage will also make a case for support of dance citywide with open access and free to attend dance workshops in the lead up to the festival.

The Role

We are looking for a freelance dance facilitator/choreographer to deliver cocreated interactive dance workshops in the lead up to the Harbour Festival. This will result in a dance developed alongside participants and showcased as a piece of new work on Saturday 20th July, harnessing, celebrating and inspired by the skills of the community involved in its creation.

We invite applications from dance practitioners with experience in facilitation, choreography and working within communities/with community groups. It would also be beneficial if you work with an existing group interested in dance due to the fast-paced nature of this role. The dance itself needs to be at least one completed dance that is accessible to all kinds of dancers.

Fee

The total fee for the dance practitioner will be £1000 to cover activity over June to the 15th July (approximately 4 sessions) including the final performance on Saturday 20th July. This fee will be inclusive of all expenses such as travel and VAT.

Further information:

  • Rehearsal space will be available at Trinity at an agreed schedule over the May to July period
  • The final piece will need to be created no later than the 15th July to be ready for the performance on Saturday 20th July.
  • If you require any rehearsal space for your own projects, we can offer this too

How to apply

  • To apply, please send a portfolio/cv of your work along with a short summary of how you would approach this brief via this application form.
  • Complete our anonymous Equal Opportunities form here.

The closing date for receipt of applications is Monday 27 May
