Seed Tables - where you can browse to choose the seeds you need

Speakers - hear from experts on seed saving, food resilience, gardening and more

Stalls - selling plants, seeds, 'green' goods and promoting organisations with a growing or ethical theme

Food - a wonderful pop-up cafe serving fabulous drinks and cake

Information - about local growing projects, and how to get growing

People - lots of friendly and happy volunteers and visitors

We want as many people as possible to grow food and to get into gardening generally. Money should be no barrier to doing so so tickets and seeds are free. Donations for entry and for seeds are welcome if you can afford it - it is entirely at your discretion, no one is going to ask you about it. Bristol Seed Swap Events are self funding and run entirely by volunteers. Next year's event depends on this year's breaking even.

I don't have seeds to swap can I still join in?

Absolutely YES. Everyone has to start somewhere, and we want to get everyone growing - whether you have a window box, a small Bristol front garden or are on the waiting list for an allotment.

For next year, please try saving some seeds to bring to the Seed Swap.

What do I need to bring?

Seeds - to add to the Seed Tables if you have any, these can be spare shop bought seeds or ones you have saved yourself.

Friends and neighbours -tell the gardeners in your life about the Swap, some people are just too busy growing things to look at social media - we find it hard to reach them with publicity.

Trinity Joins Platform Places’ "mycelial movement"; a national peer network of leaders managing and developing some of the UK's most essential community assets

We are proud to be part of a new peer network launching in 2023 for community asset leaders, co-convened by Platform Places and Power to Change. This network brings together organisations across the UK who are working to secure and steward community assets for the long term. The initiative is rooted in collective learning, mutual support, and advocacy for sustainable funding, resilient partnerships, and community-led decision-making.

The journey so far...

In September 2023, Trinity took part in a gathering of community asset leaders at the Hawkwood Centre for Future Thinking, co-convened by Platform Places and Power to Change. This 36-hour residential brought together 25 experienced community asset developers from across England to build solidarity, share learning, and shape the future of the community assets movement.

Developing transformational long-term funding – Advocating for sustainable, patient funding models that empower community asset holders.

Creating a resilient, resourced peer network – Establishing peer mentorship, learning exchanges, and support structures for organisations at different stages.

Collective storytelling – Amplifying the importance of community-led spaces, sharing inspiring stories, and advocating for policy change.

The discussions were inspired by the idea of mycelial networks—a metaphor for the ways community asset leaders can connect, support, and strengthen each other. We explored how working collaboratively can increase our collective influence when engaging with funders, asset owners, and policymakers.

Trinity’s involvement aligns with our wider partnership work on community assets, including Roots of Resilience, which explores sustainable models for cultural spaces. By joining this network, we’re contributing to a movement that champions community ownership, long-term stewardship, and equitable access to local assets.

Blues, indie pop and folk-rock for a music lovers feast

Ben Ottewell and Ian Ball are best known as members of Gomez, a British rock act whose debut album ‘Bring it on’, won the Mercury Music Prize in 1998.

After they toured around Oz as a duo, Ben and Ian return with new songs, plus they'll perform all the favourites from the Gomez years. As a duo, their joyful and harmonious performance brings together a bit of blues, indie pop and folk-rock for a music lovers' feast.

After releasing the band’s sixth album in 2009, Ben Ottewell began paving the way for a solo career, well known for his “deep, raspy voice” and “gravelly baritone”. Ottewell's deep, soulful voice has gained him some acclaim, and has drawn some comparisons to Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder, and artist Tom Waits.

After sharing lead vocals and guitars in the band, Ian Ball has also performed and released two solo albums. He also dabbled in electronica with Lionel 6, an experimental trio that included members of Australia’s Gelbison.

After the release of the band's debut album, Alterations and Repairs, in 2007, the musicians were riding high, encouraged by the response to the music so far.

The momentum to restore Jacobs Wells Baths, Hotwells, Bristol, has seen a significant boost with the unveiling of a newly installed artwork on the front of the building as part of a Fundraiser to raise funds to repair and restore the Grade II listed former dance centre.

The artwork, a bespoke pen and ink drawing by Bristol-based artist Amy Hutchings and supported by Anna Haydock-Wilson, features words shared by members of the Hotwells community, gathered from a community consultation led by Trinity Community Arts as part of our mission to restore and reopen the building. suppor

The artwork features as a reward for the Jacobs Wells Fundraiser that we have launched on the Bristol based Fund Surfer platform.

We are calling for Bristol residents to give what they can to help us reach a £5,000 fundraising target. These funds will help towards crucial costs as part of the current investigations and identified works. People can donate via the Bristol based Fund Surfer platform.

“It’s great to see this exciting progress after the disappointment and uncertainty surrounding the restoration of Jacobs Wells Baths. The new artwork demonstrates how much this Grade II listed building means to the local community,...any contributions will be vital for achieving the vision of bringing the site back into use as a community arts hub, building on the 35-year Community Asset Transfer lease which we awarded back in July.”

Councillor Craig Cheney, Deputy Mayor for Finance, Governance, Performance, and Culture

Amy is not the first renowned artist to put their name to the appeal to save the building - earlier this year esteemed actress Miriam Margolyes shared a heartfelt video outing the importance of community spaces such as Jacobs Wells Baths, and encouraging people to get involved and support the drive to safeguard the building and re-open the space once more.

Trinity, alongside local councillors, residents and Hotwells and Clifton Community Association, have been leading the project to restore the building since the news in Jan 2023 that the former dance hub was at risk of disposal by Bristol City Council.

Since then, the Council's CAT Group announced its decision to offer Trinity Community Arts, a registered charity, a 35-year CAT lease, subject to receipt of a satisfactory business plan. We also received a six-month occupational license during the transfer phase, to enable Trinity to undertake a detailed series of specialist surveys, funded by the Bristol-based Nisbet Trust and to undertake emergency works to halt any further damage to the roof due to water ingress.

We have secured further funding from the Architectural Heritage Fund, Sylvia Waddilove Foundation UK and others - aimed at matching the committed funding from the Nisbet Trust to support the development phase and investigations to understand the scope of work needed to restore and reopen Jacobs Wells Baths.

Emma Harvey, CEO Trinity leading on the Jacobs Wells Baths recovery project said; “We often stroll past boarded up buildings like this, imagining how they could be put to good use. The community have long campaigned to save this space and want to see it brought back into use for public benefit. That’s why we’re working hard to secure funds to restore this amazing space. Anyone wanting to support this transformative journey can donate via our Fundsurfer appeal to help us reach our target."
