Hailing from North London Jah Tubbys started out in 1971 and by the late 70's were playing all the top sounds gaining a name for themselves. They toured the country extensively and were known for their heavy bass and unruly style. In the 80's they started their own record label and JTS dub cutting studio where DJs from genres across the board came to get dubplates cut onto 10" acetate. JTS also became the supplier of soundsystem equipment, building the renowned JTS preamp and in turn powering sounds around the whole globe. This truly is a legendary soundsystem and we look forward to welcoming them back.

Meeting Jah Tubbys will be Bristol's veteran soundsystem Jah Lokko, est in 1976 they have been filling dances with stacks of speakers for decades and will be digging deep into the dub basket for this very special occasion.

This time they’re bringing  Mirage, a day-to-night, outside-to-inside session, where they’ll be setting up their own little oasis just for you. They start out in the Den's stage, think cold drinks, good tunes, and sun on your face with fresh handmade pizza to keep you upright. Expect reggae, world funk, and house rhythms to keep things moving as we settle into the sand.

As the sun goes down, they will take things inside, and get lost in the mirage.They’ve teamed up with Ecosystem, who are hauling in their full rig to shake the dust off the place and bring the sandstorm indoors. Expect jungle, hypnotic breakbeats, hardcore, and a few surprises for good measure. Now under the veil of darkness, the desert cools off, but they don’t.

It’s a mirage - but it’s real. You don’t want to miss.

Back by popular demand, this isn't just a historical tour, it's a journey to Old Market's fascinating past.

A Medieval Promenade

Venture into the streets of Old Market as characters from the height of the renaissance appear before your eyes—plucked from the past and dropped into the present! This extraordinary theatrical tour won’t just tell you about Old Market's history—it brings you face-to-face with the very people that lived it.

Rub shoulders with bewildered characters from centuries ago as they navigate their once-familiar streets now transformed by time. Listen to their tales of bustling market days where fortunes were made and lost through clever bartering and sharp wit.

A Medieval Fayre

Journey to a bygone era as Trinity Gardens transforms itself into a medieval playground.

Challenge friends to a spirited game of blind man's buff, test your strength in tug of war, or laugh at the antics of a comic, we welcome one and all to this market day celebration!

Feast like nobility or dine as a humble peasant - the choice is yours. From succulent spit-roasted pig to delicate mushroom tarts, our period-inspired fare satisfies every palate.

A £5 deposit is required when booking. This deposit can either be refunded or exchanged for a voucher that can be spent in Old Market business taking part in the Destination Old Market after the event.

Destination Old Market is produced by Trinity Community Arts and is part of the City Centre and High Streets Culture and Events Programme, funded by Bristol City Council and the West of England Combined Authority. The initiative aims to attract more visitors to the City Centre, boosting local businesses and the economy.

This is part of Trinity Presents - our in-house programme of music and performance, bringing world-class artists and emerging talent to inner-city audiences.

Join them for this exciting film screening of The Primrose Files: Sickle Cell Warriors, a Bristol-made docufilm which features the voices of people with lived experience of sickle cell, whether they, or their friends and families are impacted by the condition or they are actively contributing to research and support efforts for sickle cell. Part two follows with the sickle cell community’s hopes for the potential opportunities that genomic research could bring for those with sickle cell and improve their quality of life.

Following the film screenings, a panel discussion will be available to talk about the research, treatments and the IBHO study. People living with sickle cell disorders will have the opportunity to register their interest in being involved with this study.

There will also be:

• Popcorn for the film screening

1Relation (pronounced One Relation) are one of the freshest dub sound systems coming out of Bristol. The crew will be showcasing an authentic selection of roots, rocksteady, dub and steppas as well as their own studio productions, with Wilfy Rootikal & Jonny Fisha (KFS) at the controls & the beautiful voice of MC Sista Ina singing above the riddims.

They are in the process of curating an exciting line-up of local artists - stay tuned on their instagram for more.

All profits from this event will go to supporting the Bristol Commons as they work towards creating systemic change and building community power in our city.

As the meal is prepared, audience members, performers, and participants come together to co-create an unforgettable experience. Through sound, movement and visual poetry, TASTE transforms ordinary rituals into extraordinary shared moments.

Expect live music played with kitchen utensils, embroidered tablecloths coming to life, delicious food, and a burst of communal joy!

Inspired by weekly creative workshops for migrant women at Borderlands, this event is designed with access at its core, breaking down language barriers and allowing participants to shape the performance in real-time.

About the project

Led by Carlota Matos, a theatre and performance artist working internationally with a focus on social change and participation.

Inspired by Relational Aesthetics, TASTE adopts a participatory format which embraces fluidity, spontaneity, and the joy of collaboration.

This project brings together some of the city’s most exciting creatives, including Ania Varez (Interval), Hiba Elhindi (SudaFest), Roxana Vilk (Vilk Collective), and Sherien Elsheikh (BRAC). Produced by Weronika Dwornik.

TASTE benefits from mentoring and dramaturgy support from Jonny Cotsen (Deaf Access Consultant) and award-winning company Quarantine.

Join Club Love for their regular mid-week social where their gorgeous community will be meeting up outside a clubbing and play environment to chat about all things ENM, do a bit of shopping/swapping and soak in a talk or demo.

This month's social will host a smutty collage workshop. Libby is a Bristol based collage artist. She has developed a technique blending hand cut collage elements and analog glitching created while compositions are being scanned. Her collages and stop motions use vintage papers and explore the erotic and esoteric, the sacred and profane.

If you are curious about Club Love's play parties this is the perfect event to meet like-minded people and have all your questions answered with no pressure or judgement. Club Love socials will be open to members and non- members. Non-members will also have the opportunity to be vetted for Club Love Membership in person at the event.

Club Love are also initiating the; Kinky Clothes Swap'. Bring all the bits you don’t wear anymore, don’t fit, or the some beloved items you want to share with someone else.

One day, a baby clown accidentally bounces off a passing circus train and is left in the middle of nowhere, separated from family and friends.

A little reluctantly at first, the farmer takes the clown in. As time passes, they discover that by being with each other, they find something new in themselves.

Made with consultation from Deaf Access and Visual Language consultants, Flibbertigibbet Theatre has adapted this picture book by award-winning author and illustrator, Marla Frazee, into a new wordless play for all ages.

Playing without words, the show is accessible to a wide range of audiences. They worked with  a Visual Language consultant and Deaf Access Support consultant, to ensure that the physical language created for the storytelling is clear and accessible for all audiences, including those who are deaf or hard of hearing. Anyone who does not speak English can still enjoy the show as language is not an issue.

The story delicately explores themes of loneliness, friendship, and care, across the divisions of age and community.

tiata fahodzi presents EVERYWHERE - a triple bill of short plays presented together, driven by a provocation about what we do in what spaces matter.

Drama and conflict are things that we experience as humans everywhere beyond the limitations of a theatre space, and these 3 commissioned writers are exploring what that means to them in short form. Working with brilliant actors and creatives, the triple bill 30-minute pieces will bring some of best established and emerging talent from theatre to tell original and diverse stories that take us from displacement to maternity wards.

The EVERYWHERE triple bills are very much about instigating conversations and curiosity between artists and audiences.

Writers include Yusra Warsama, Magero and Anyebe.

Trinity looks forward to welcoming back Maddie Wakeling, actor, theatre maker and community theatre facilitator, for the Roadside theatre show on March 28th & 30th. We started supporting Maddie in late 2023 with the first iteration of her theatrical show Roadside, a unique and flowing one man show centring on the experiences of Milly, a young woman’s life on the road.

The support followed after Art of Resistance, a three-year programme celebrating creative expressions of activism funded by HLF came to a close. Keen to continue supporting artistic work focusing on the strands within the programme such as counterculture, we gladly supported Maddie on the development of Roadside.

We interviewed Maddie last summer to ascertain how the partnership had helped her develop her work.

“Trinity's support gave us time and space to make the show happen! The recording spaces increased the quality of the voiceovers used in the show and we reached new audiences through their promotion. Trinity is a venue rooted in community and so is our show, so it felt like a really good collaboration.” Maddie Wakeling
