Jam Jar DJ's

The John Langan Band are a dynamic trio with a sound that is rooted in Celtic Folk but encompasses Balkan, Roma, Gypsy Swing and Flamenco. The band met in Glasgow and have been playing together for 7 years. Their performances are high energy, unhinged, and musically extravagant, as they take traditional acoustic idioms and deliver them with a punk abandonment and virtuosic flare. 


Having played over 100 gigs in the past year alone, they have now established themselves across the UK as being one of the best live Folk bands around. They have over 17 different festival performances this summer including; Glastonbury, Secret Garden Party, Broadstairs Folk Week, Shambala. They have just released a new EP in May to great critical acclaim...''Astonishing work, boundlessly inventive… driving rhythms and mesmerising folk melodies'' R2 Magazine.

The BSE club night brand, ‘Blackout’, which runs in conjunction with their label of the same name, was founded in 2003 and regularly plays the biggest and best clubs and festival stages across Europe to crowds in their thousands, as well as touring worldwide, including as far afield as Australia & New Zealand.

It routinely invites highly respected names from across the D&B spectrum to play as guests, as well as developing it’s own exclusive artists such as State of Mind & Neonlight.

Don’t miss a rare chance to see Black Roots live at Trinity on 02 July as part of The Mid Summer Reggae Festival – hosted by Dub Legacy and one of Bristol’s top radio stations Ujima. Black Roots will be joined by some of the best soundsystems in the scene including Green King and Indica Dubs.

The history of Black Roots is intertwined with Bristol’s relationship with reggae and the reggae scene as a whole. Formed in St Paul’s in 1979, the group were an integral part of the early sound system culture in the late 1970s/early 1980s that defined Bristol’s music scene at the time. Set against a backdrop of rising racial tensions in the city, seen most clearly through the St Paul’s Riot in 1980, the emerging sound system culture was a way for young Black people in the city to carve their own space within the local music scene.

While discriminatory entry policy barred entry for many young Black people in a number of Bristol’s venues, Trinity opened its doors and soon became renowned for hosting reggae and sound system events.

Sound system culture was part of a wider DIY scene that still exists in Bristol today and the grassroots approach to music allows for local people to define their city’s music scene from the ground up. After garnering international acclaim for their raw, honest approach to roots reggae, Black Roots went quiet until 2004 when they went on to drop 4 new albums ‘On the ground’, ‘Ghetto Feel’, ‘Son of Man’ and ‘Take it’. Their newest release was in 2021 ‘Take it Easy’.

Young rock band, black midi, scale beautiful new heights with their second studio album for Rough Trade, Cavalcade. No second album syndrome or sophomore slump, as they reach upwards from a lofty base of achievements. The follow up to Schlagenheim is a dynamic, hellacious, inventive success. black midi listen widely and deeply not just to rock and jazz, but to hip hop, electro, classical, ambient, prog, and experimental music with an ethos of combining lessons learned from these genres to create something interesting and new.

Black Coffee (born Nkosinathi Maphumulo on 11 March 1976) is a South African record producer and DJ. He began his career around 1995 and has released five albums as well as a live DVD under his Johannesburg-based record label, Soulistic Music. He is arguably the most prominent electronic music producer in Africa. Black Coffee had his big break shortly after being chosen as a participant in the 2004 Red Bull Music Academy held in Cape Town. In September 2015, he won the “Breakthrough DJ Of The Year” award at the DJ Awards in Ibiza, a few weeks after the release of his fifth studio album, Pieces Of Me.

Since Bishop’s signing to Nas’ label, Mass Appeal Records in 2014, he has gone on to release music at an incredibly consistent rate, collaborating with MF DOOM on Nehruvian Doom.

Having supported Wu-Tang Clan’s 20th Anniversary, Nas, DOOM, Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q & many others, Bishop Nehru is a fresh rapper who has earned the respect of some of the greatest in the game.
