Eliphino: Like many producers, Leeds native Tom Wrankmore took to beatmaking at a young age, saving up to buy an MPC so he could start making music. His first productions were strongly influenced by hip-hop, garnering comparisons to artists like Madlib and other LA experimentalists based on his Out of Phase and Seasons EPs.

Now residing in London, he’s broadened his sound palette and has begun mucking about with house and garage, getting a track signed to Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Electric compilation, remixing a wide range of artists within the same field, dropping the Undivided Whole EP on the somethinksounds label and a track on the Manchester based hoya hoya label alongside Lone and Ras G. DJ sets are eclectic incorporating sounds from a wide spectrum including hip hop, garage, house, rnb, dancehall and jungle.

Winner of ‘Best Metropolitan Festival 2013’ at the UK Festival Awards, Dot To Dot Festival is established as the UKs premier festival for unearthing the hottest new talent around, alongside established acts from all over the globe. Now in its ninth year and touring Manchester, Bristol and Nottingham from the 23rd to the 25th May, Dot To Dot’s ever eclectic line-up is set for its biggest and best year to date.

Headlining this year’s festival will be Peace, the zeitgeist guitar band of 2014. It’s been a phenomenal couple of years for the group, having released their critically acclaimed debut album In Love and going on to woo crowds worldwide. Indeed, seasoned Dot To Dot-goers will be aware that the band return to the festival as headliners following a stand out performance in their formative years at Dot To Dot 2012. With third studio album “Atlas” imminent, lo-fi surf rockers Real Estate make a welcome visit to the UK. A trio of parody upstarts with musical know-how The Midnight Beast also join this year’s line-up. The bonafide internet sensations, with over 64 million YouTube views, are sure to crack a wry smile on the Dot to Dot-goer whilst they dance to their humorous hits. Parisian alternative indie-electro-pop trio We Were Evergreen and indie revivalists Wolf Alice also join the bill. Further along the line-up, expect a quixotic mix of folk-electronica from Fyfe, grunge tales of youth and love and anger from Darlia, the soul tinged styling’s of London based New Yorker Norma Jean Martine plus lots, lots more. All of whom could one-day be headlining Dot to Dot Festival!

Swans are Michael Gira, Norman Westberg, Christoph Hahn, Phil Puleo, Thor Harris and Christopher Pravdica and these are the first UK dates since last year's Mouth to Mouth festival, curated by Gira and the Green Man festival.

Swans infamous and powerful live show was described by Guardian as "a magnificent achievement", by Clash as "perfectly orchestrated carnage" and by The Quietus as "a revelation" and it was on this recent 2012/2013 tour, Gira explains, that "a good portion of the material for this album was developed live".

'To Be Kind' will feature several special guests: Little Annie, St. Vincent, labelmate Cold Specks and Bill Rieflin. The album was produced by Michael Gira, and recorded by John Congleton at Sonic Ranch, Texas. Further recordings and mixing were accomplished in Dallas, Texas.

Swans, led by Michael Gira, formed in 1982 and, after disbanding in 1997, returned with the critically acclaimed albums 'My Father Will Guide Me Up A Rope To The Sky' (2010) and 2012’s 'The Seer'. 2014's new album 'To Be Kind' was part funded through sales of the double live CD 'Not Here/Not Now' via the band's own site http://bit.ly/1igMi70

The Polyphonic Spree is a self-described "choral symphonic rock" group from the Dallas, Texas area. The band generally consists of a 10-person choir, a pair of keyboardists, as well as a percussionist, drummer, bassist, guitarist, flautist, trumpeter, trombonist, violinist/violist, harpist, French horn player, a pedal steel player, theremin player, and an electronic effects person. Individual members and the number of musicians vary because of the flexibility necessary in travelling with such a large band. Tim DeLaughter is musical director and contributes lead vocals, as well as keyboards, guitar, and percussion.

The band have reverted back to their original moniker from We Are Augustines in time for the release of their second LP on February 3rd via Votiv/Caroline International.

“This was us moving on together,” drummer Rob Allen says of the record. “It was wonderful to come through the other end and record a new record. It was a huge accomplishment and it looks towards a brighter future for us all.”

The tour continues in Glasgow on April 11th, and has an already sold out show at the London Koko due up on April 14th.

They take a breather for a couple of weeks before resuming the tour in Sheffield on May 10th, and bring the curtain down for a final time in Birmingham six days later.

Adrian Utley (Portishead) brings together an orchestra of electric guitar players to interpret Terry Riley's 'In C'. Written in 1964 and perhaps one of the most influential pieces of music from the 20^th Century, one that established minimalism as a music genre, In C's simple musical rules - 53 musical phrases in C and no duration - allow for infinite variations.

Utley's impressive Guitar Orchestra is augmented by percussion and organs making for a vintage and mesmeric sound. The effect is an organic musical experience very much created in front of the audience both fragile and thunderingly uplifting.

" I've been exploring the sonic possibilities of massed guitars for a while now in various contexts from pure noise to the sacred choral music of Arvo Part. So it was interesting to see what would happen if we had 20 electric guitars plus organs playing In C.

“This is the perfect opening gig for our newly refurbished space and we are so pleased that Adrian and his orchestra have agreed to perform. The launch follows the completion of our Big Lottery funded building works which have focussed on bringing our underused upstairs hall into use.

With a new sprung wooden floor and underfloor heating, as well as a new reception and improvements to our external grounds, we hope that this event will be the first of many to bring new life and use to this much-loved Bristolian landmark.”

Adrian and his orchestra will be supported by Young Echo, a group of musicians individually composing electronic music, who will bring their rich sounds together to fill the full height of this beautiful, newly renovated, iconic space.

Smithy & Mighty will headline our Re-launch After Party following in our downstairs main hall until late, with support from old and new Trinity favourites including a DJ set from Young Echo – with more acts to be announced.
